Anderson Ranch Art Center, Snowmass Village, CO, Summer 2018
Workshop in Glaze Chemistry with Richard Burkett, August 13-17
Test tiles made in preparation for the workshop
Test tiles (group project) with base gloss, matte and 50/50 mix glazes with additional 25% of various glaze fluxes and 6% copper carbonate fired to cone 6 (2232⁰F) in an electric kiln.
Line blends (group project) of mixtures of uncolored base matte and crawl glazes, and same glazes with color oxides.
Triaxial blend (individual project) of mixtures of glazes with color stains and oxides. Transparent satin glazes with 6% yellow stain (TOP CENTER), 6% yellow stain and 4% Red Iron Oxide (BOTTOM LEFT), and 6% yellow stain and 7% Rutile (BOTTOM RIGHT).
Diagram of the setup of my triaxial blend. The numbers and letters represent proportional mixtures of each glaze. 2A3C means two parts (e.g. teaspoons) of glaze A mixed three parts of glaze C.
A series of underglaze tests under a transparent satin cone 6 glaze on the inside of a small bowl.
